My style is light and airy, timeless and people-centered. I love to incorporate nature, flowers, trees, and landscapes whenever possible. Natural light is always my go-to, but I can also work with lighting equipment, like flash and indoor portable light stands. I enjoy capturing candid interactions and authentic moments of love, laughter, and joy amongst people. In my view, the best photos come from genuine interactions and natural smiles.
Of course! I strive to capture mostly lifestyle photos, but I also include a mix of posed “looking at the camera” type of photos. Moreover, I love the “intentionally-posed” shots, which simply means I provide guidance and posing suggestions, but the photos have a very natural and candid look to them. I offer feedback and will let you know if you should reposition yourself or turn to a different angle. My objective is for everyone being photographed to feel comfortable and confident, which is why I will provide as much guidance and feedback as needed.
Yes! Aside from my experience with my own children, I am also a teacher and have plenty of experience working with children of various ages. I know how to properly communicate with the little ones, and read their body language. I may also employ some tricks during a session, with an aim to get their best smiles photographed!
Yes, absolutely! Your furry friends are always welcomed, assuming they are well-trained and friendly. Always check with me first, to ensure the session location permits dogs. Certain locations or venues may require pets to be leashed, so please bring a leash with you to the session. Also, I suggest to pack a few treats and some bandanas or accessories!
For women clients, packing extra makeup and a hairbrush can come in handy for a touch up before or during the session. Also, if you are planning on wearing heels for the session, packing tennis shoes may help if your session requires some walking.
For an engagement session, I recommend bringing anything that represents your love and relationship, for example: signs, champagne, flowers, balloons, or your furry baby. If you share a common hobby or interest, you could bring an object to represent your love. Oh, and of course, don’t forget to bring your engagement ring, of course!
For a maternity session, I suggest flowers, or items associated with the baby, such as, ultrasound photos, baby clothing or shoes, baby signs, or stuffed animals.
For a newborn session, I always recommend parents to plan at least two outfits for baby, in case there is spit up or a blowout diaper. If the session is on location or in studio, I recommend bringing extra diapers and a bottle. If breastfeeding, it may be helpful to choose clothing that makes breastfeeding accessible. If you're able to, planning a feeding right before our session may be helpful as well.
For a family session, if you have small children, I suggest packing some snacks and beverages. Depending on their age, packing a toy or two might also be a good idea.
Sessions vary in length depending on the type of session. Typically, a maternity, engagement, or family session lasts about one hour. Newborn sessions last closer to two hours. Senior portraits can take around 1.5 hours. Event photography, like a baby shower or birthday party can last a few hours, typically around two to four hours, depending on the needs for the event coverage. When mini sessions are offered, those last up to 30 minutes. Regardless of the type of session you book, you will get the time, attention, and detail that you deserve. I know how much you value your time, and I will do my best to get all those must have shots within the timeframe of your session!
After your session, the photographer spends time culling through the photos. Culling refers to the process of reviewing all the photos from a session and selecting the best images that will move on to the editing process. This is a lengthy process due to the meticulous sorting of images, attention to detail provided to each image, eliminating out-of-focus and unflattering images, and eliminating duplicates. Afterwards, the editing process begins. Editing entails correcting exposure, cropping, color correction, eliminating unwanted objects, smoothing skin tones, and making other adjustments to the images. Once all the photos have been culled and edited and looked over for a final time, the images are then downloaded on to the online gallery software. This whole process can be time consuming, which is why it can take around two weeks for an online gallery to be delivered. Clients are sent a sneak peek within a few days of a few images from the session, while the other images are still in the editing process.
Yes, you will receive your digital images via an online gallery where you can easily download your images in both web sized (best for social media posts) and high resolution (best for printing enlargements).
Your digital images deserve to be printed and hung up on your walls or made into albums! Prints and additional products are not included in the pricing, however, the online gallery platform also offers an online store in which you can conveniently order prints and products. I also highly recommend using https://www.mpix.com/ for high quality prints and other products.
It depends on how long your session is and what type of session you have. For instance, a one-hour family session results in at least 40 edited images. Every session is different, which is why I provide a guaranteed minimum, however most galleries are comprised of more than double want the minimum guarantees. You will receive the best images from your session, with a variety of poses and angles.
It is strongly advised that you download your images when you receive your online gallery, preferably within two weeks of receiving the gallery. A copy of the images is stored on two separate hard drives. There is a $100 replacement charge for additional downloads after the session has been archived. The $100 is to account for the time it takes to re-download the images to the online gallery and re-deliver them to the client.
Pricing includes the photographer’s time on the day of the session and post-processing, and artistic creativity. In addition, there are other costs, such as editing software, online gallery membership, gear, education, gas, taxes, and other cost of doing business expenses that go into calculating overall costs.
