FAQ

I have compiled a list of frequently asked questions for your convenience. If you have other questions, please feel free to contact me

What types of photography services do you offer?

I specialize in maternity, newborn, and family photography. However, I also offer photography services such as, couples (engagement, anniversary, etc.), headshots, milestones, graduations, and events (baby showers, birthday parties, quinceañeras, etc.). If you are in need of a different type of session please free to fill out the contact form to inquire about your photography needs.

How do I book a session?

To book a session, simply fill out the contact form, or schedule a phone consultation. I will send you a link to my calendar where you can easily book a date and time that works best for you.

What’s your cancellation/rescheduling policy?

In case of an emergency or an unforeseeable event that requires rescheduling, like sickness or injury, the client must inform me at their earliest convenience. I will try my best to accommodate the client and reschedule the session to another date, depending on availability. If there is a non-emergency, like a schedule conflict, the client can reschedule the session without any additional fees, if rescheduled within at least 48 hours prior to the session. In the case of an event out of the client or photographer’s control, like severe weather, I will get in contact with the client to reschedule the session.  In the event that I must reschedule, the client will be notified as soon as possible and be offered dates to reschedule, if no alternative dates work, the client will be given the choice to cancel, and have the retainer fee reimbursed. In the event a client decides to cancel their session, it is important to note that the retainer fee is non-refundable.

Why is the retainer fee non-refundable?

Retainer fees are non-refundable because once a client books a date and a time slot, it becomes unavailable for other potential clients to book. The retainer secures your spot and the photographer’s time is dedicated just to that client. A change of schedule or cancelation on short notice does not provide sufficient time to book another client and therefore causes the photographer to lose valuable time that could have been directed towards another session.

What if I am running late the day of my session?

Please plan enough time to get to your session. Whether that be getting the kids ready a little earlier or factoring the possibility of having to navigate through rush hour traffic. If you are running late, please call notify me as soon as possible. Oftentimes if you text an hour ahead, that gives enough time to let me know. If you have a 60 minute session scheduled and you are 20 minutes late, you will then have a 40 minute session. If you are more than 30 minutes late without calling or texting, the client will forfeit their retainer fee and the session will be canceled. Unforeseen circumstances do occur, such as illness or accidents, I just ask for open communication and for everyone's time to be respected. If I am running late, that will be communicated to the client as soon as possible, and the duration of the session will not be affected.

Why do you charge travel fees?

If a session, either on location or at a client’s home, exceeds 20 miles roundtrip from zipcode 20136, a travel fee will be included in the invoice to account for the photographer’s time, and costs of travel, like gas and tolls.

What type of payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfers, Venmo, Zelle, or cash.

What is your photography style?

My style is light and airy, timeless and people-centered. I love to incorporate nature, flowers, trees, and landscapes whenever possible. Natural light is always my go-to, but I can also work with lighting equipment, like flash and indoor portable light stands. I enjoy capturing candid interactions and authentic moments of love, laughter, and joy amongst people. In my view, the best photos come from genuine interactions and natural smiles.

Do you help with posing ideas?

Of course! I strive to capture mostly lifestyle photos, but I also include a mix of posed “looking at the camera” type of photos. Moreover, I love the “intentionally-posed” shots, which simply means I provide guidance and posing suggestions, but the photos have a very natural and candid look to them. I offer feedback and will let you know if you should reposition yourself or turn to a different angle. My objective is for everyone being photographed to feel comfortable and confident, which is why I will provide as much guidance and feedback as needed.

Do you have experience working with children?

Yes! Aside from my experience with my own children, I am also a teacher and have plenty of experience working with children of various ages. I know how to properly communicate with the little ones, and read their body language. I may also employ some tricks during a session, with an aim to get their best smiles photographed!

Can I bring my dog to the session?

Yes, absolutely! Your furry friends are always welcomed, assuming they are well-trained and friendly. Always check with me first, to ensure the session location permits dogs. Certain locations or venues may require pets to be leashed, so please bring a leash with you to the session. Also, I suggest to pack a few treats and some bandanas or accessories!

Should I bring anything to the session?

How long will our session last?

Sessions vary in length depending on the type of session. Typically, a maternity, engagement, or family session lasts about one hour. Newborn sessions last closer to two hours. Senior portraits can take around 1.5 hours. Event photography, like a baby shower or birthday party can last a few hours, typically around two to four hours, depending on the needs for the event coverage. When mini sessions are offered, those last up to 30 minutes. Regardless of the type of session you book, you will get the time, attention, and detail that you deserve. I know how much you value your time, and I will do my best to get all those must have shots within the timeframe of your session!

What happens after a session? When will we get our online gallery?

After your session, the photographer spends time culling through the photos. Culling refers to the process of reviewing all the photos from a session and selecting the best images that will move on to the editing process. This is a lengthy process due to the meticulous sorting of images, attention to detail provided to each image, eliminating out-of-focus and unflattering images, and eliminating duplicates. Afterwards, the editing process begins. Editing entails correcting exposure, cropping, color correction, eliminating unwanted objects, smoothing skin tones, and making other adjustments to the images. Once all the photos have been culled and edited and looked over for a final time, the images are then downloaded on to the online gallery software. This whole process can be time consuming, which is why it can take around two weeks for an online gallery to be delivered.  Clients are sent a sneak peek within a few days of a few images from the session, while the other images are still in the editing process.

Do you include digital images?

Yes, you will receive your digital images via an online gallery where you can easily download your images in both web sized (best for social media posts) and high resolution (best for printing enlargements).

Do you include prints and/or products?

Your digital images deserve to be printed and hung up on your walls or made into albums! Prints and additional products are not included in the pricing, however, the online gallery platform also offers an online store in which you can conveniently order prints and products. I also highly recommend using https://www.mpix.com/ for high quality prints and other products

How many images do you typically deliver?

It depends on how long your session is and what type of session you have. For instance, a one-hour family session results in at least 40 edited images. Every session is different, which is why I provide a guaranteed minimum, however most galleries are comprised of more than double want the minimum guarantees. You will receive the best images from your session, with a variety of poses and angles

What if I lose my images? Are my images backed up?

It is strongly advised that you download your images when you receive your online gallery, preferably within two weeks of receiving the gallery.  A copy of the images is stored on two separate hard drives. There is a $100 replacement charge for additional downloads after the session has been archived. The $100 is to account for the time it takes to re-download the images to the online gallery and re-deliver them to the client.

How much are your photography services? What is included in the price?

Pricing includes the photographer’s time on the day of the session and post-processing, and artistic creativity. In addition, there are other costs, such as editing software, online gallery membership, gear, education, gas, taxes, and other cost of doing business expenses that go into calculating overall costs.  To see what is included in a session fee, visit the investment . If you are considering doing a maternity and newborn session, you may consider booking a package to receive a discounted rate.
